The deal of the century: Cristiano Ronaldo joins Juventus
It is now official: Cristiano Ronaldo joins Juventus. The Portuguese football superstar signed a four-years contract and will be playing in the Italian Serie A for 30 million euros per season.
The agreement was found when the Bianconeri offered 105 million euros to the player’s now former club, Real Madrid. Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli flew today to Kalamata, Greece, where Ronaldo is spending his summer holidays, and closed the deal with his Portuguese agent, Jorge Mendes.
The 33-years-old striker wrote an open letter to the Real Madrid fans: “This years in Real Madrid and in the city of Madrid have been probably the best of my life. I only have feelings of enormous gratitude for the club, its fans and the city. However, I think it’s the time to begin a new stage of my life, this is why I asked the club to accept my transfer”.
Cristiano Ronaldo, known for his limitless ambition, chose the project of the Turinese side, which now can dream to permanently come back to the European football elite. Same for Serie A, until now always a step back from the English Premer League and the Spanish La Liga. The eyes of the world will finally be on the Italian stadiums once again.
Benvenuto, Cristiano! And congratulations to Juventus.
